• Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Director, the Business Development Manager is a strategic position responsible for identifying and delivering new customers in line with the companies target growth areas; Retailers, Brands, Convenience, Distributors and Services (Installation)
• The role will require to deliver innovative customer solutions, develop a customer acquisition strategy through a qualified new customer pipeline and to deliver new business growth through custom mixed materials in all sectors
• The Business Development Manager responsibilities will include achieving monthly, quarterly and annual targets, building relationships and understanding all market trends to promote growth and develop a best in class organisation
• Responsible and accountable for developing and executing new business strategies to deliver growth in accordance with the companies strategy and expectations
• Accountable for new business development, negotiations and commercial contracts in line with budgeted revenue and DM targets
• Identify, develop and convert new profitable customer opportunities and grow market share, supported by a targeted plan that reflects company overall strategy, position in the market place and competitive drivers
• Develop and manage a robust qualified pipeline of new business opportunities through the implementation and management of an effective CRM system to ensure target values and conversion rates are achieved
• Through understanding customers challenges and pressures, develop smart solutions that meet their needs and can be delivered to successfully add value to their organisation
• Network effectively with new potential customers to develop relationships and business opportunities, through securing meetings with key stakeholders and decision makers within identified target customers
• Write and deliver high quality pitches and tender responses to clearly articulate the company’s value proposition ensuring successful outcomes and increased conversion rates
• Perform the role of “Bid Manager” on all opportunities that have been pre-qualified, acting as the voice of the customer back into the business, communicating clearly their requirements and expectations,
identifying and mitigating potential risks both internally and to the customer in order to meet internal and
external deadlines
• Execute a seamless handover to the Account Management team at the point of secured order thus
ensuring that a seamless customer on-boarding experience is achieved, passing over the day to day
management of the ongoing customer relationship and project delivery, sharing knowledge and
expertise with the Account Management team to enable them to identify and maximise the ongoing
business available
• Provide robust, detailed and accurate forecasts (revenue and margin) in line with reporting timetable
that are realistic and can withstand scrutiny and challenge
• Work closely with all internal departments and colleagues to build strong, collaborative relationships
and a team work approach to ensure voice of the customer and customer experience is clearly
understood and delivered
• Working with the Commercial Manager, develop and share market intelligence and competitor
knowledge to enable the company to secure maximum profit as a result of informed, intelligent
tendering
• Continually develop in partnership with internal departments the company’s offering to the marketplace
in order that market share and competitive position is grown
• Adhere to the business process at all stages of the opportunity cycle
• Demonstrate understanding of, and buy-in to, company Vision, Mission and Values by exemplifying the core competencies and behaviours at the appropriate level internally with colleagues, as well as externally with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
• Ensuring that safe working practices are met and in line with all legislative requirements
• Promote the company’s Health & Safety agenda
• Highlight departmental risks and hazards as identified and inputting to business process changes as appropriate
• Experience of selling solutions to the Retail, Brands, Convenience, Distributors and Services
(Installation) sectors
• Degree calibre education or equivalent
• Proven track record of new business delivery and account growth in a challenging environment
• Demonstrable evidence of developing strong and robust relationships with multi contact points within a
customer
• Understanding of the customer decision making process and the ability to articulate a value proposition
to increase growth/new business wins
• Ability to plan, organise, communicate and manage customer relationships in a commercial
environment
• Knowledge of business development/account management principles and their implementation within
the Retail, Brands, Convenience, Distributors and Services (Installation) sectors
• Understanding of the current industry legislation and any potential impact that needs to be addressed
• Strong presentation and communication skills that can be clearly evidenced and articulated
• Understanding and knowledge of large organisations and how to ensure effective policy implementation
